There is one thing you can’t control on your wedding day – the Weather. Stormy weather is nobody's ideal wedding forecast, but its out of your hands. So how do you plan to ensure that factors out of your control, like the weather, do not affect your day?
Ensure you choose a venue that has good wet-weather options, indoor and outdoor and be certain that you are happy with the ceremony taking place in either location.
Once decided, for ease of registering your marriage, make sure all options and all alternatives are noted on your marriage license. It is important for the license to contain the exact address of where the marriage is likely to take place; Option A and Option B will need to be listed on there.
Assign the responsibility of deciding which option it will be on the day to one person like, the bride, groom, venue coordinator, celebrant or MC.
When deciding, take on board the venue and key vendors thoughts and suggestions, that of the photographer, musicians, videographer and their equipment.
Decide what time you will make the call for the day. This will be largely guided by the venue coordinator and their flexibility around set up times in each location
When making a decision, think about yourselves but also, if there is a processional, the bridal party. Guests, particularly the elderly, may not find the wedding so enjoyable if outside if it is pouring with rain or there are high winds. The dress and the veil also need to be taken into consideration. Yes, it is your day but it is also a celebration and an event where the guests invited are wanting to have the best time they can with you.
Stick with the plan once its made and don’t deviate. Select the area that you are going to be at and an allocated time so that everyone is clear about what will be happening for ease and flow purposes.
Make sure you have umbrellas for your bridal party, for getting in and out of car and for photos.
Ensure your bridesmaids are on hand to hold your dress for you.
Lastly smile and embrace the weather whatever it brings for you, it shouldn’t make or break your day. Your vibe is going to set the tone for the day – so be happy and enjoy each moment no matter if there is water pouring from the sky.
Like anything – preparation and planning are key for a stress free and enjoyable day for all.
